I have Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have been an RN with my BCIT specialty in Perinatal nursing since 2006. In 2009 I wrote my International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants exam. I spent over 10 years working full time in a Labour and delivery unit. This included many 12 hour days and nights supporting mothers through labour, delivery and with breastfeeding. I was fortunate to work with knowledgeable mentors as well as Midwives who taught me a great deal during this time. I have a special interest and skills required to help mothers establish breastfeeding with babies who required special care. It is a privilege being able to help mothers during this special time. I am also the mother of five children and I know breastfeeding does not always go as planned.
