Dickjan Poppema

I was born in The Netherlands, grew up in Germany, studied in France and The Netherlands and consider myself to be truly European.

I started my career in 1990 in Marketing at Kraft Foods and at the worlds largest tour operator TUI and after ten years on Client side I switched to the agency side of the communication business, joining Leo Burnett in Frankfurt, Germany, in November 1998. At BBDO (2003 - 2009) as well as at Wensauer & Partner (2009 – 2012), I have proven to be a skilled Turnaround Manager. Since Januar 2013 I lead GREY, one of Germany's most prominent communications agencies, seeking to bring it back to former glory.

I manage with great ease larger structures and a huge diversity of employees, Clients and other stakeholders. I am considered to be well seasoned in dealing with financial analytics and key financial data and know how to find and use the leverages hidden in a company’s P&L.; I thrive to instill passion, professionalism and vision into my projects and my people. I like dealing with Clients and have ample experience in generating New Business. I enjoy working internationally again.

In my private life I love to spend time with my beloved wife Daniela and my adolescent son Olav. We do sports together, enjoy dining good food with even better friends and seek to travel as often as possible to our second home near Aix-en-Provence, France.

I am fluent in Dutch and German, which are both my native tongues, and I do speak English and French on a highly professional level. My Spanish has become a bit rusty over the years.
