Dilip Shah Scientist in Philadelphia, PA, USA

I’m Dr. Dilip Shah, a biochemist and researcher based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My journey in science began in Nepal, where my curiosity about how things work inspired me to pursue a career in molecular biology and immunology. I earned my B.Sc. in Chemistry, M.Sc. in Biochemistry, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry through government-funded fellowships in Nepal and India — opportunities that shaped both my education and my perspective on scientific responsibility.

Over the years, my work has focused on understanding how oxidative stress and antioxidants influence immune cell behavior and contribute to autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Later, I expanded my research into vaccine development, pioneering the use of laser-based adjuvants to strengthen immune responses. I’ve also explored how mitochondrial dysfunction affects lung development in premature infants and currently study immunotherapies like CAR-T and antibody–drug conjugates for cancer treatment.

Science, for me, is not just about discovery — it’s about integrity, collaboration, and purpose. I believe in what I call “Better Science”: research that is transparent, ethical, and driven by curiosity. Outside the lab, I enjoy watching cricket, soccer, and the Super Bowl, and I stay inspired by learning about innovations that shape the future of medicine.
