“Dirty Celebrity” is a slang term meaning a person who wears designer clothes, mixed in with lower priced styles. This description is the essence of our brand that composes exotic hand details, exaggerated styles, and Japanese punk. The brand is a fast growing company that was started in 2009 by West Indian and French twin sisters, Yvette Estime and Eva Polynice. The twins were tired of over –priced and under-designed pieces that dominated the market as well as seeing the same designs churned out by the same designers.
“We wanted to offer something different”, said co-designer, Eva Polynice. “A brand that is composed of various priced jewelry items but still offers the same details of higher brands while remaining true to our style esthetic of punk and grunge”. The result is a brand that combines bold pieces with effortless cool and punk details like studs, and rivets.
In just three years, the twins have made a splash in Florida fashion. The brand was nominated for emerging designer of the year in 2010 by FGI during Funkshion. The following year, the brand was featured in Mercedes Benz Fashion week (Miami) alongside Aqua Di Lara to launch their new collection, Quiss Quiss. National recognition followed with magazines snapping up the pieces including Nifty magazine, MF magazine, A&U, Black Women Today, Daily Candy, and fall style. The brand gained a celebrity following when Mya, Elle Verner, and Jasmine Lewis began to covet our jewelry followed by a feature on BET.com and music videos by Lil Wayne and Ace Hood.
