Doug Hedlund brings more than 25 years of marketing and general management experience to his work with business-plan clients. He had 15 years of CEO experience during the course of his career, and has assisted a broad range of business and non-profit clients, from multimillion- dollar blue-chip companies to garage start-ups.

Doug grew up ten miles south of Boston in a suburban town called Braintree. After graduate school at Columbia University, he really learned his trade while working with Fortune-500 clients for seven years in marketing strategy development at Ogilvy & Mather in New York, and later at BBDO in Los Angeles.

Clients under his supervision included Avon, Gallo Wine, Six Flags Theme Parks, Calgon Bath Products, Shell Oil, Ralphs Supermarkets, Mongoose Bicycles, and Kraft/General Foods.

His primary functional expertise includes bringing new products to market; developing effective business strategies and managing their successful implementation; writing business and marketing plans; helping clients raise capital; recruiting, training and motivating managers and sales people to perform up to their full potential; managing P&L successfully; business turn-around leadership; and heavy B2B and B2C internet sales and e-marketing management.

For 15 years, Doug served as founder and President of New-Venture, a product launch and marketing management company based in Los Angeles.

He attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, earned his BA in journalism from the University of Massachusetts, and holds an MBA with an emphasis in marketing from Columbia. Doug has taught a range of business planning and strategy development classes to young entrepreneurs at Santa Monica College. He has also served as a guest speaker on marketing strategy development at corporate conferences, UCLA Extension, Columbia University workshops, and SBA workshops.

Doug lives in Santa Monica, and enjoys playing tennis, listening to classic jazz, some pop and classical music, and watching football, basketball and baseball. He has one married son who lives in the SF Bay area.
