For more than 15 years, Dr. Christopher deFilippi has served as an associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He performs and interprest transthoracic echocardiograms, as well as transesophageal echocardiograms, for patients and actively teaches cardiology fellows how to read and interpret the results. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Christopher deFilippi has held roles as committee member and vice chair of the University of Maryland Baltimore Institutional Review Board. He currently directs clinical research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Christopher deFilippi, MD, is board certified in cardiovascular diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He belongs to the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. deFilippi earned his MD at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. He later fulfilled an internship in internal medicine at the Boston University Medical Center Hospital. In addition, he completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Parkland Memorial Hospital.
