Dr. Darren Carpizo is a talented surgical oncologist who specializes in liver and pancreatic cancers. For the past decade, Darren has worked with the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pharmacology and Surgical Oncologist/Cancer Researcher.

Upon graduating Dr. Darren Carpizo enrolled in the University of Chicago medical program. While here, he involved himself in a program that exposed students to research and had the chance to research a condition called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Through this program, he had the opportunity to see what medical research in a lab looked like in actuality and gain hands-on experience in the field. Darren enjoyed the program, and it cemented his knowledge that he wanted to work as a physician or scientist.

Recently, Dr. Darren Carpizo made a move in his career. He stepped into a position with the University of Rochester Medical Center as Professor of Surgery and Oncology, Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Vice-Chair of Basic and Translational Research. He also holds a co-leader title for one of the three major cancer programs at the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
