Dr Frederick Harrington

Since 2011, Dr. Frederick Harrington has served as the chief of spinal neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He oversees student physicians in the nation’s only academic endoscopic spine program. Dr Frederick Harrington is also an expert in the treatment of adult spinal deformity where frequently significant deformities can still be treated with minimally invasive techniques. Additionally, Dr. Frederick Harrington mentors resident physicians interested in clinical research turn their ideas into meaningful research projects.

He enjoys membership with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. In addition, Dr. Harrington reviews articles for the International Journal of Spine Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surger, and Neurosurgery, the official journal of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Frederick Harrington received his BS in biology cum laude and medical degree from Tufts University. An internship at the New York University Bellevue Hospital followed, and then a residency in neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Dr Harrington served as a neurosurgeon for the United States Navy from 1990 until 1993- including the period of the Gulf War in Iraq.
