I’m Dr. Martin Jugenburg, also known as Dr. 6ix, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Toronto and founder of the Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Institute and SixSurgery. My journey into medicine started long before my training. I was born in Košice, Czechoslovakia, and moved to Canada with my family in 1989. My father, a surgeon dedicated to trauma and burn victims, showed me early on the profound impact reconstructive surgery can have. That inspiration never left me.

I studied molecular genetics and molecular biology at the University of Toronto, graduating with high distinction, before completing my M.D. there as well. I went on to a competitive residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Manitoba, then pursued a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, specialising in microsurgical cancer reconstruction. That experience taught me discipline, precision, and the value of patient-centred care.

When I returned to Toronto, I faced a decision. The academic path in reconstruction meant research over surgery. I chose instead to bring my microsurgical expertise into cosmetic surgery, founding a clinic built on safety, innovation, and transparency. Over the years, I’ve developed techniques such as the PowerBoost Augmentation and awake facelifts, while also using social media to educate and demystify the process.

For me, success is about growth and impact. I often turn patients away if surgery isn’t right for them, because protecting their health matters more than numbers. My mission is to help people feel like their best selves—safely and authentically.
