A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Rex Mahnensmith earned his doctor of medicine with cum laude distinction. He went on to serve an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Yale-New Haven Medical Center and a fellowship through the Yale School of Medicine’s Division of Nephrology. Dr. Rex Mahnensmith subsequently treated patients as a primary clinician with the Duke Medical Group in North Carolina, the Medford Clinic in Oregon, Miriam Hospital in Rhode Island, and the Yale Medical Group in Connecticut.

He also has provided full-time geriatric care with multiple skilled nursing facilities. Since 2017, he has served as chief medical officer at a federally qualified community health care center in Greater Simsbury, Connecticut.

Dr. Rex Mahnensmith is also an experienced medical researcher who has authored dozens of peer-reviewed articles. Over the years, his work has appeared in scholarly publications such as the American Journal of Kidney Disease and the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
