Dr. Sridhar Yaratha holds positions at two psychiatric centers in Virginia: he serves as a forensic psychiatrist for the Central State Hospital in Petersburg, and as an attending psychiatrist at Gateway Homes in Chesterfield. A psychiatric professional with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha has made numerous contributions to the field of medicine in the form of research publications, lectures, and seminars.

Prior to beginning his career, Sridhar Yaratha attended Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in St. Lucia, where he earned his doctorate of medicine in December, 1995. A few years later, he completed several residencies and earned multiple honorable recognitions for his academic achievements, including the Ester McMahon Award for psychiatrist resident of the year in 2001. While in residency, he accepted a position as a staff psychiatrist at Thomas Memorial Hospital in West Virginia.

At Central State Hospital, Dr. Yaratha is attending physician for the men’s long term forensic unit, and he is also responsible for providing assistance to the men’s acute admissions unit and the civil commitment unit. In addition, he provides coverage for the women’s forensic acute admissions unit. As an attending psychiatrist at Gateway Homes, he manages the psychiatric care of patients with chronic mental illness and attends to the adult outpatients.

In his spare time, he enjoys participating in a variety of sports activities, such as golf, tennis, and soccer. Additionally, he watches football and college basketball for leisure.
