Dr. William Belfar

Dr. William Belfar has treated thousands of patients with mental health issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Since 2000, Dr. Belfar has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Manhattan Medical & Psychiatric Services, PC, a psychiatric services group that treats a wide array of mental health disorders. In addition, Dr. Belfar is the Associate Medical Director of Adult Inpatient Services at Rye Hospital Center in Rye, New York, where he supervises the hospital staff and other physicians. He also is a Consulting Psychiatrist at rehabilitation and medical centers in the towns of Niskayuna, Troy, Rensselaer, and New York City. Dr. Belfar is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New York and Massachusetts and can treat patients in a hospital environment or in private. In the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks, Dr. Belfar assisted victims and their families in dealing with grief at Pier 11 in New York City.

Dr. William Belfar is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is Board Eligible in Neurology and Forensic Psychiatry. He maintains an active role in the psychiatric community and is a member of the American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry, American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Belfar received his Doctor of Medicine in May 1990 from the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. William Belfar also completed two separate three-year residencies at the Boston University Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Belfar currently lives in Rye and is a devoted father who enjoys, running, swimming, skiing, and traveling in his spare time.
