Educated at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, Duane Wardell holds a bachelor of arts in computer science. He is also trained in database administration and holds distinction as an Oracle certified professional and an affiliate of the Educational Testing Service. Over the course of his career, Duane Wardell has managed computer databases for the University of Illinois at Chicago; Detroit Diesel; and National Semiconductor in Dallas, Texas.

After supporting all Oracle database activities for Hermann Hospital’s millennium implementation in the late 1990s, Duane Wardell continued to provide backup and emergency support to the Memorial Hermann Health Care System (MHHS) into the 2000s. In 2001, he became lead database programmer and analyst with the MHHS Information Systems Division in Houston, Texas. Duane Wardell went on to head database administration functions at MHHS for several years. When he left MHHS in 2007, he was a certified consultant database programmer and analyst.
