As city manager, he focused on the creation of international destination venues designed to bring maximum economic value to the local community.

Mr. Beasley’s efforts helped bring some of the highest-profile sporting events to Glendale, including the BCS championship, the NCAA Fiesta Bowl, and the 2008 Super Bowl. He helped coordinate development agreements that enabled the NFL Arizona Cardinals’ multipurpose facility and the NHL Coyotes’ hockey arena to be built. Ed Beasley engaged closely with the Economic Development Department in transforming the retention and redevelopment initiative in ways that added 9,000 community jobs over a six-year period and drove nearly $70 million in new retail development.
