After graduating summa cum laude from Auburn University with a bachelor of science in biology, Edgar Gentle went on to earn a master of science in natural resource management and economics from the University of Miami and again graduated summa cum laude. He subsequently studied law, attending Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, to secure his bachelor of arts and master of arts in jurisprudence. Edgar Gentle ultimately obtained his juris doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1981.

After working for a number of law firms and corporate law divisions in Alabama and Georgia, such as the firm of Miller, Hamilton, Snider and Odom, Edgar Gentle accepted his current position with Birmingham’s Gentle Turner Sexton and Harbison, LLC, in 1992. As a partner in the firm, he generally serves as a neutral special master and settlement advisor for a range of court cases. Over the years, he has helped facilitate more than $2.5 billion in total client settlements.
