85th Columbus Corp
The New York property management organization 85th Columbus Corp. owns and operates the historic apartment building formerly known as the Brockholst, located at 101 West 85th St. in Manhattan's Upper West Side. Nestled in the heart of the Central Park West Historic District, the apartment building has stood as a fixture of the neighborhood since its creation in 1890. Designed and built by major row house architect John G. Prague, the apartments at 101 West 85th St. retain much of the building's original features to this day, blending modern luxury with fin de siècle New York charm. Ensuring that the building remains an integral part of the neighborhood and its history, 85th Columbus Corp. maintains affiliation with the New York State Rent Stabilization Association and the Community Housing Improvement Program; the latter organization supports the interests of owners and tenants across the city.
Consisting of 41 spacious apartments, four ground-level commercial units, and an ample cellar area, 85th Columbus Corp.'s building at 101 West 85th St. continues to evolve with the growing needs of the neighborhood and its residents. In the past, 85th Columbus Corp. has allocated ground-floor commercial space for restaurants like Firehouse Tavern and the Nonna Italian restaurant. The firm plans several changes for the near future, among them a repurposed cellar intended as a community facility, most likely a school, to open in fall 2012. In all of its renovation and rehabilitation activities at 101 West 85th St., the property management company conducts work in accordance with the standards of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and other city agencies.
