Prior to retiring from an extensive career as an senior investment industry executive, Ellen Griggs managed more than $25 billion in assets and directed investment teams that exemplified best practices. After gaining early leadership experience as Vice President of the Investment Management Group at Bankers Trust Company, Inc., she joined Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based investment management firm Strong Capital Management. Recruited by Strong’s President to serve as Senior Vice President, Ellen Griggs led marketing and investment departments that doubled the institutional fixed income business, representing a $1 billion increase.
As a result of her demonstrated propensity for investment consulting and strategy coupled with business development, Ellen Griggs attained the position of Senior Investment Consultant and Partner at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, headquarters of full-service investment advisory NEPC, LLC. Subsequently, she served for four years as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner of NEPC. During this time, Ellen Griggs introduced and managed a new brand identity, led an IT project to create an integrated, fortified operating platform, and chaired the Independent Consultants Cooperative. Assets under advisement increased from $300 billion to $600 billion under her leadership.
Since her retirement from NEPC, Ellen Griggs has continued to provide leadership within the financial services sector as a member of the Board of Directors for Market Street Trust Company and Evanston Capital. A alumna 15-year Board of Trustees member at Kenyon College, she now serves the Kenyon Board of Trustees in an emeritus capacity. She also sits on the Philanthropic Trust Board of the Boston Medical Center.
