I am a 22 year old artist born in Los Angeles, Ca. I have been producing art, mostly dichroic art, for the last 4 years. Ever since I picked up my fisrt brick of clay I was hooked. I went on to explore mediums such as rock, plastic, wood, metal and eventually glass. Glass has a special place in my heart for one reason, Larry Gruda. Larry Gruda is my late uncle who was a pioneer in class fusing and slumping creating works of art for spaces such as the LA Metro Transportation Services and Ontario airport just to name a few. His use of color, technique, and material was also astounding to me as a child and I have very vivid memories of visiting his studio and house which were both adorned with kilns galore and tons of dichroic glass. Unfortunetely, my uncle was also a troubled soul who suffered from bi-polar disorder among other things. In April 2004 the artist known as LaGru had died. It was three years later when I was studying art at Santa Monica college that I stumbled upon a secret glass class being offered through my school. Four years later here I am. Although I have yet to explore slumping in depth due to resources I have been able to establish a dichroic jewelry design company known as ErEs designs. With over 500 pieces made I have been able to take my designs to other parts of the world and expose people to my craft through long train rides and friendly encounters. In the near future I hope to expand my craft and invest in larger kilns and creater quanitites of glass.
