Erika Beras
I’m an award-winning bilingual journalist who has reported and produced narrative-driven, sound-rich stories for NPR programs such as Morning Edition and Latino USA. I’m also a contributor to Scientific American and Monocle (UK) podcasts, have written for websites like Vice Motherboard and ScienceFriday.com and have produced multi-media content for PBS.org. I’m also a full-time reporter and producer at the NPR member station in Pittsburgh.
I previously worked as a multi-media reporter at The Miami Herald.
I’ve won a slew of awards ranging from The Rolling Stone Award for College Journalism in 2006 to the Radio Television Digital News Association’s award for best health reporting in 2014.
I’ve also been the recipient of several competitive fellowships from The International Center for Journalists, The National Health Reporting Fellowship and The Academy for Alternative Journalism.
I’m a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and an alum of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
