Eva Andersson-Dubin

Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin is a Swedish-American internal medicine specialist and philanthropist. She is the founder of the Tisch Cancer Institute’s Dubin Breast Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Since its inception in 2011, Eva has worked alongside the Center’s staff, to provide comprehensive, streamlined, and compassionate care to breast cancer patients from diagnosis through recovery.

Eva has served on the Mount Sinai Medical Center Board of Directors since 2014. She is also on the Medical Advisory Board of the Breast Cancer Alliance, a private foundation that aims to improve survival rates by strategically investing in breast cancer research and education programs. Eva previously served on the boards of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Alliance for Lupus Research, the Friends of the Karolinska, and the Trinity School of New York.

Eva grew up in the small coastal town of Uddevalla, Sweden, becoming the first person in her family to attend university, earning a bachelor’s degree in science, and graduating top of her class. Intent on pursuing a career in medicine from a young age, she worked as a model and served as a global cultural ambassador for Sweden after being named Miss Sweden in 1980 to fund her medical studies.

Eva attended the Karolinska Institutet medical university in Stockholm, as well as UCLA’s School of Medicine, where she earned her M.D. in 1989. She completed the Lenox Hill Hospital medical residency program and obtained a board certification in internal medicine in 1993. She then served as an in-house physician at NBCUniversal for 18 years, where she specialized in internal medicine. A breast cancer survivor, Eva is passionate about developing innovative approaches to the treatment of breast cancer and internal medicine.

In 2013, Eva received an honorary doctorate degree from Mount Sinai for her transformational work as an advocate for breast cancer care and research.

In 2019 Crain's New York recognized Eva as a Notable Woman in Healthcare for her contributions towards pioneering a holistic approach to breast cancer patient care. In a 2020 ceremony, Mount Sinai honored Dr. Andersson’s 10 years of leadership of the Dubin Breast Center. Dr. Kenneth Davis, the hospital’s President & CEO, heralded the Center’s accomplishments as “nothing less than extraordinary.”
