David B. Mann

Dallas, TX

David’s multi-culture journey began in 1994 after graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Art in Radio, Television and Film.

Upon graduation, David moved to NYC to work as a Gaffer and Director of Photography on music videos, independent films, and television shows for three years. His next stop on the globe was working as an IATSE stagehand with Local 52 in Houston, TX from 1998 to 2002. Wanting to see more of the world, David enlisted in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician, serving from 2002 to 2006. While serving in the navy, David took several graduate level classes through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University concentrating in Human Factors and Systems.

After serving his country, David’s real travels began, and his love for still photography was born. David worked as a Broadcast Technician onboard the Holland America cruise liner, MS Oosterdam. During his eight-month contract, David traveled from Seattle, WA to Sitka, AK, Ketchikan, AK, Glacier Bay, AK, and Victoria Island, BC. A few months into his contract, David bought his first still camera, and began capturing images of the amazing Alaskan scenery. By the end of the tourist season, David had sold over 140 prints of his images to gift shops in Alaska.

After finishing his contract, David returned to Dallas area, staying with long time friends while deciding his next move. His experience working with truly a international crew ignited his desire for exploration full on, creating opportunities beyond his own imagination.

Three weeks after arriving in Dallas, David found himself on a twenty-two hour plane trip to South Korea, a country he knew nothing about, and in all honesty, hadn’t a clue as to where it was. After settling into his new environment, David’s creativity surged as he explored the Korean peninsula, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, and Taipei. David mounted a one-man exhibition, worked with several magazines, club promoters, newspapers, musicians, fashion designers and creative groups during this time.

David also worked as the unit photographer for the production of Hype Nation 3D, staring Park Jaebeom, designed brochures both in English and Hangul, acted in Korean dramas and films, taught photography classes, and signed with the London based agency, PYMCA.

In the summer of 2011, David returned once again to the Dallas area, to tie all of these experiences together into the glo
