Sarinee Achavanuntakul

A financier by training, Sarinee Achavanuntakul is a Thai writer, blogger, and social critic. She writes regularly about sustainable development and social business in various publications including Krungthep Turakij newspaper. In 2007, in the wake of the passage of Thailand’s first Computer Crimes Act, Sarinee co-founded Thai Netizen Network (TNN) with a group of like-minded bloggers. TNN remains one of Thailand’s only civil society groups that campaign on Internet freedom and digital rights.

Sarinee is also the founder of Home of the Underdogs (http://homeoftheunderdogs.net/) one of the Internet's earliest 'abandonware' websites, co-founder and Editorial Board of ThaiPublica (http://www.thaipublica.org), an online investigative news organization which she launched with a group of veteran investigative journalists in September, 2011. In July 2013, she co-founded Sal Forest Co. Ltd. (http://www.salforest.com/), Thailand's first "sustainable business accelerator" aimed at fostering discourse on sustainable business in Thailand, and currently serves as Managing Director, Knowledge Development.

Since 2007 when she quit investment banking, Sarinee has produced research papers in the fields of capital market, microfinance, and sustainability, as well as written and translated over 60 books on various subjects, including Humane Capitalism,Thai translations of Muhammad Yunus' Banker to the Poorand Creating a World Without Poverty, and John Elkington and Pamela Hartigans's Power of Unreasonable People.

She holds an MBA in finance from Leonard Stern School of Business, New York University, and a BA in economics from Harvard University.
