A CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder with extensive experience as a pharmaceutical industry equity research analyst, Dr. Gbola Amusa has recently worked as an independent healthcare strategy and finance consultant for public and private companies as well as government agencies. Among his work with international non-profit organizations, he has advised the Oxford, England-based think tank Meteos and an organization sponsored by the Gates Foundation. As an advisor for a major Indian medical information provider, Dr. Gbola Amusa assisted an organization that improves the delivery of health services throughout India by offering open-source electronic medical records systems free of charge.
Prior to his independent consulting work, Gbolahan Amusa, MD, served as a managing director, head of European pharmaceuticals research, and global pharmaceuticals and biotechnology coordinator for UBS AG in London. In 2012, he helped the European pharmaceuticals sector achieve the highest market share for trading commissions at UBS. That same year, Dr. Gbola Amusa led the UBS European pharmaceuticals team to receive designation in a Greenwich Associates survey as the top pharmaceutical group for European investors and finished his career as the #1 ranked European pharmaceutical analyst in unfractionated votes in the 2013 Institutional Investor (II) poll.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gbolahan Amusa has demonstrated a commitment to social responsibility and in developing initiatives that will help improve and transform healthcare outcomes around the world. During his tenure with UBS, he received mention by the Access to Medicine Index for research he conducted that revealed availability of medicine is a primary factor in sustaining social well-being. His research has also been cited by GMI Ratings; by the Shared Value Initiative, operated by non-profit social impact consulting firm, FSG; and by the UBS Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) team.
