Geeta Manek

Geeta Manek is a Rotarian from District 9200, comprising of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea. South Sudan has also recently joined the region. A Major Donor, Geeta is passionate about serving her community. Her hard work has seen her rise up the ranks to being elected to serve as the District's first ever woman Governor, for the Rotary year 2012-2013.

Her goal is to increase women membership to at least 40%, as she feels women are usually closer to the communities. She intends to achieve this by encouraging every Rotary club within District 9200 with less than 25 members to strive towards attaining the 25-member threshold.

Nicknamed 'Nalongo' (mother of the twins) among Ugandan Rotarians and 'Mama Rotary' among the Kenyans, Geeta has cultivated a special place in the District's history.

Away from her work and service, she is a coffee connoisseur, chocolate lover and doting mother.

"Peace is not a one-day job but a calling that Rotarians must pursue always; at home, at work and in the communities theywork in."
