Gita Sankano

I am an attorney with a passion for commercial real estate, transactional law, mortgage banking, and affordable housing finance. Throughout my career, I have focused on helping clients navigate complex transactions with practical legal guidance and careful attention to detail. Whether I am advising on financing structures, drafting agreements, or supporting community development projects, I enjoy finding solutions that create lasting value.

I was born in Harlem, New York, and raised in the Bronx. As the first person in my family to attend college, I learned early that determination, mentorship, and believing in yourself can open doors. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master of Public Administration from CUNY John Jay College before graduating cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law.

Success, to me, is about giving back to my community and sharing what I have learned with the next generation. I believe we all have the ability to shape our own future through hard work, resilience, and a willingness to keep learning.

Outside of my legal career, I enjoy traveling, hiking, painting, exploring art, and practicing pilates. These interests help me stay balanced, inspired, and ready to approach every challenge with curiosity, creativity, and a positive perspective.
