We offer Silk: (Mulberry, Non Mulberry) Muga Silk, Paat Silk, Eri Silk (Cocoons, Yarn and Fabric )
One of the rarest Silks in the world is Muga silk produced only in Assam and nowhere else in the world for which it has held the GI status. The fact that sets this Silk apart from all other versions is that it is golden yellow and golden amber brown in colour, its shine and durability. It is also resistant to UV rays. Muga Silk is the "most" expensive type of Wild, Raw Organic Silk available.
Muga Silkworms lives on a Som tree. It is the product of the silkworm Antheraea assamensis which is endemic to Assam. The larvae of these moths feed on som (Machilus bombycina) and sualu (Litsaea polyantha) leaves. The silk produced is known for its glossy fine texture and durability.
Muga silk can be dyed like any other silk. This silk can be hand-washed with its luster increasing after every wash. Very often the silk outlives its owner.
We also have Eri Silk, which silk is made by Samia cynthia ricini this silkworm feeds on leaves of Castor oil plant (Ricinus communis). It is also known as Endi or Errandi silk. As the manufacturing process of Eri allows the pupae to develop into adults and only the open ended cocoons are used for turning into silk, it is also popularly known as non-violent silk (Non Violence in Hindi is "Ahimsa" so the Silk, named after Mahatma Gandhi's "Non Violence Movement" and his passion for spinning Eri Silk yarn). This silk is soft and warm and is popular as Stole, Scarves, shawls and quilts.Creamy, white eri silk is warm, strong, durable and resistant to sunlight, acid and alkalis. Fabric becomes bright and glossy after every wash.
