Guillem Ortega is a longtime Portland, Oregon-based merchandising and retail executive who has founded the consultancy Merchant-XXI, LLC, since 2015. Through his Portland business, he assists clients in navigating complex retail trends and selecting appropriate revenue-driven strategies. His areas of expertise include Retail (eCommerce vs Brick and mortar, omnichannel, drop-shipping) and Merchandising. Guillermo Ortega emphasizes creating personalized consumer experiences that build long-term loyalty.

A graduate of the University of Barcelona, Mr. Ortega joined Intersport Spain in the early 1990s and accepted a position with the company as commercial director in 1999. As a participant in the company’s Footwear International Advisory Meeting, he helped select the assortment of prime brands featured in the European market. He also guided the buying team that selected the firm’s own brand collections, which were retailed throughout Spain. In 2001, he joined NIKE, a major U.S.-based footwear and apparel company as footwear merchandising manager, first for the Iberian region, then for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and finally working in the Global Headquarters of the company (WHQ) as Vice President of Merchandising for the category of Football (Soccer).

He has a passion for reading and is planning to take an American history classes at Portland Community College in the future.
