For more than a decade, Helen Fogarty, PhD, worked as a senior psychologist at Graham-Windham Residential Treatment Center in New York before leaving the center in 2013. As senior psychologist, she was clinically responsible for up to 36 adolescents who were living at the treatment center, and she conducted psychotherapy and family therapy sessions for patients. She dealt with a wide variety of psychological issues, including adjustment disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder, and often managed psychiatric hospitalizations and crisis interventions. Dr. Helen Fogarty previously spent two years as the clinical manager at Northern Westchester Guidance Clinic.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Fogarty held such positions as staff psychologist at the Holliswood Hospital and consulting psychologist at These Our Treasures, Inc. She also spent 10 years privately practicing psychotherapy in New York. During this time, she used a psychodynamic approach in the treatment of clients who came from a wide range of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Dr. Helen Fogarty prepared for her career by earning a bachelor of arts in psychology and history from Brandeis University, followed by a PhD in clinical psychology from City University of New York and a certificate of completion from a postdoctoral training institute.
