Since 1997, she has worked in the medical management field, serving as a practice administrator and consultant. Huma Shamim’s work allows medical practices to reach their full potential and help as many clients as possible. She dedicates herself to helping those in need not only through her work in the medical industry but through many philanthropic activities as well.
Since entering the medical operations and management field over 10 years ago, she has worked as a practice administrator at Marion Heart Associates and Brandon Orthopedic Associates. In addition, Ms. Shamim has served as a consultant and manager for Hawthorne Medical and Urgent Care. In Jan 2010, she created her own business as a self-employed practice consultant.
Ms. Shamim continues to expand her skills through continuing education and professional training. In 2009, she attended a review on cardiology and records, and in 2010 she took part in a conference on orthopedic coding. Most recently, Ms. Shamim participated in certification training for the 2012 ICD-10, presented by the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. Medical coding is one of Ms. Shamim’s many areas of expertise, along with billing, budgeting, purchasing, record audits, credentialing, and human resources. Her work allows her to assist both patients and medical professionals while ensuring that practices run successfully.
Huma Shamim also gives back to her local community through other avenues. She volunteers with many charities, teaches children to read, provides counseling, and babysits. In addition to keeping up with advancements in the medical field, Ms. Shamim enjoys a variety of activities, including discussions about politics, watching movies, and reading. She also is a fan of Broadway and Cirque de Soleil.
