The Impresario

Director, Dancer, and Artist in Chicago, Illinois, United States

Mike Davis is a Chicago-based choreographer, director, and producer with over 20 years of experience shaping dance and cabaret artistry. As the founder of Theatrical Rendition Dance Theatre and creator of Honey Pure Cabaret, Davis has built an independent platform dedicated to showcasing Black and Brown performers through the glamour, grit, and soul of cabaret.

Trained across ballroom, musical theatre, jazz, and contemporary styles, Davis has choreographed for festivals including Lollapalooza, Chicago Blues Fest, and citywide artist showcases, while also teaching at leading studios and schools throughout the Midwest. His vision blends classic cabaret influences with modern urban edge, creating performances that honor legacy while pushing dance into the future.

In 2020, Davis launched TR Cabaret in response to the cultural climate of the time, using dance as both entertainment and activism. By 2023, the company evolved into Honey Pure Cabaret, a bold new chapter where Davis serves as leading man and impresario, curating shows that mix choreography, storytelling, and live artistry. His productions have become spaces for empowerment, mentorship, and artistic innovation, giving dancers and audiences alike an unforgettable experience.

Today, Davis continues to direct and perform while teaching his original Presario Technique, inspired by Bob Fosse, Duke Ellington, and the passion of R&B icons. Whether on stage, in the classroom, or at the helm of Honey Pure Cabaret, Davis stands as a leader in Chicago’s next renaissance of art, entertainment, and community.
