Hi my name is Irma and I want to tell you a little about myself.
I was born in Tunica, Miss. and grew-up in a very small town by the name of Mound Bayou, Miss., it
was founded by Ex-Slaves in 1887 and incorporated in 1898, and still today is an all Black town.
Population of 1,520. Mound Bayou is also called the Jewel of the Delta.

I am the 11th child of 14 children, There was lots of work all the time, like plowing the land,
planting the crops beans, cotton, wheat, rice , chopping cotton, picking cotton, and feed the live stock.
We grew most of our food , like meats and vegetable.

After working in the fields we canned vegetable. My mother made most of the girls clothes.
The girls kept the boys clothes clean and iron we cleaned house and cooked.
