James Foster
Hello Everyone!
I started my passion for business at the at of 8, where I convinced my brother that he had to pay to pet his own rabbit :) I became fascinated with the idea of owning my own business in high school, where I began to dream of owning a nuclear energy company. Alas, I learned that physics was not my strong suit, so I continued looking for ideas. Finally, in college, I found my calling: being a landlord.
Now, why in God's name was I interested in becoming one of those people that made you pay through the nose to get a semi-trashed apartment kinda close to campus? Simple! I wanted to change the way housing worked at my college. I created a house that as focused on luxury (as much as college kids can have luxury), while still being cheaper than the rest of the options available. Since I'm in college myself, it was easy to think of things that a college kid would appreciate, like having your own room, with a full bed instead of some junky single bed, or having someone constantly fight for lower utilities so students didn't run into surprise costs.
I wanted to change the way housing worked for the better, just as I wish everyone else luck in achieving their own dreams! "What's your dream job" shouldn't be a joke, or something you believe is fun to believe in, but unattainable. GO FOR IT!
James "JT" Foster is a Junior Entrepreneurship and Leadership Major at the University of Dayton. He currently works at Flyer Angels, a private equity fund for UD, while also owning his own business as a landlord for a luxury housing option for students close to campus. He also has a Siberian-Husky pup that lives with him off-campus.
JT was born in Toledo, Ohio, on Christmas Eve. Shortly after, his family moved to Dayton, where he grew up in a Montessori preschool. He attended Incarnation middle school and Archbishop Alter high school. He played high school soccer and was on the school's swim team, both for 2 years. JT progressed through high school in honors classes, taking 8 of 9 available AP courses at the school, and was 1 of 2 total students ever to take Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) at Alter. In college, JT was 1 of the 68 members who were accepted into the Entrepreneurship major (that's right; you have to apply and be accepted into it).
