Joseph Walter

Joseph Walter is at the Texas General Land Office.

He has professional expertise in public relations, communications, fundraising, management, grassroots, digital, crisis management, and political strategy. A former political consultant and campaign manager for over 33 races around Texas and the United States. He is a seasoned grassroots specialist with more than 17 years of political leadership and executive management experience involving campaigns, individuals, some counties and cities, non-profits, and organizations.

Formally, he served as Vice President - Political at Potomac Strategy Group, LLC and as the Executive Director for the Travis County Republican Party. Before this, at the Texas Senate, Joseph was the Communications Director. Producing press releases, statements, videos, and various social media.

Walter also owned a business, where he assisted in managing and consulting clients on political issues, data analysis, gathering and organizing data, meetings, fundraising, hiring and organizing workers, and public relations. He created and maintained various websites, created custom graphics and digital art, edited and recorded videos, as well as managed multiple social media accounts. He also developed viral content, including graphics and custom videos.

Other projects Mr. Walter is involved with include various organization Executive Boards and Committee assignments. He incubated a Texas-based think tank based on issues that impact rural counties. Nominated for a Streamy, MAVPAC Future 40, and other top 10 lists. Most recently, began a submission-based news website (Texas Wonks) for all Texans, which includes a topical and news-based podcast called "Texas Wonks Podcast".

Joseph is a third-generation Texan and American. He received his B.S. from Stephen F. Austin State University and is working on a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Liberty University. In his spare time, he likes to tour around Texas with his wife Ashley, which he met on the campaign trail.
