James Sabata
James A. Sabata is a screenwriter currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona. James has written over forty short stories and three screenplays.
James was born and raised near Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended the University of South Dakota, where he majored in English. He received his Bachelor's Degree in August 2006 and followed it with a Master's degree only one year later. He does not recommend getting your MA in one year to anyone.
James has spent considerable time working with persons with developmentaldisabilities, as well as coaching Special Olympics. James worked in group homes and psychiatric hospitals for over ten years and taught at a school for children with Autism in San Jose, CA.
One of James' lifelong passions is the sport of miniature golf. James founded the Yankton Miniature Golf Association (YMGA) and partook in all four seasons of the YMGA's summer leagues, winning two years, tying for first one year, and coming in second another year. James makes a lot of excuses for that year.
James loves to watch sports. His favorite teams include The New York Jets, The Oakland Athletics, The Arizona Diamondbacks, The Kansas City Royals, The Buffalo Sabres, The Dallas Stars, and The Lincoln Saltdogs. He will go to any live sporting event, regardless of who is playing, unless, of course, it's the Detroit Redwings.
James dabbles in all genres, but almost always comes back to horror. He has a strange affinity for unreliable narrators. He lists his writing influences as Mark Twain, Henry James, Thomas Harris, Richard Matheson, Donald Barthleme, and Agatha Christie. Other authors he truly enjoys include Stephen King, JK Rowling, Joe Hill, and John Hersey.
He is the father of three wonderful boys, all under the age of ten.
