Jack Passero
Student in Wesley Chapel, Florida
Hey there, I’m Jack. I’m a student at Academy at the Lakes, graduating with the class of 2018. I have been at Academy for 6 years, and I have been involved in the ambassador program for 2 years.
I am involved in many clubs at Academy, such as STEM Club, JSA, and Science Olympiad. I also participate in Chorus and Band.
I chose Academy at the Lakes because it offered a flexible schedule, and the faculty works as hard as they can to make the best experience possible for its students.
My favorite Academy traditions are House Day, Cabaret Night, and the Retreat. House day is an annual Field Day, where kids are split up into teams, or Houses, and they compete in order to leave with the glory of their House flag flying over the school campus. Cabaret Night is a night where students can sing in solos or ensembles just for fun or to express their talent. The Upper Division Retreat is a great experience. Within the first month of school, all Upper Division kids are sent to a campground area, and we have various activities in order to get to know new students and make friends for a better high school experience.
When I came to Academy, I was shy and reclusive. Now, after 6 years, I often venture out of my comfort zone to learn new things, thanks to the Academy family.
