In preparation for a career as a healthcare executive and health law attorney, former U.S. Air Force intelligence operative Jackie L. Caynon III completed a BA at the University of Maryland University College and earned a JD from Yale Law School. A member both of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association's Health Law Section, Jackie L. Caynon III has been admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Connecticut.

Previously an attorney at the Stamford, Connecticut-based firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, Jackie Caynon III is currently a partner at Mirick O’Connell, where he cochairs the law firm’s Health Law Group and holds a position on the Business Group. Based at the firm’s Westborough, Massachusetts, office, he represents a diverse clientele of medical and alternative therapy practitioners, from doctors to massage therapists. He also advises leaders of healthcare organizations on a comprehensive array of issues, including federal and state regulations, Stark Law compliance, Medicare standards, and patient brokering.

Over the course of nearly two decades in his role as healthcare industry legal counsel, Jackie Caynon III served in multiple executive positions, including vice president and general counsel at Salem Health System in Salem, Oregon, and as senior vice president and general counsel for Southcoast Health System in New Bedford, Massachusetts. At Southcoast, he oversaw collaboration with outside legal advisors, drafted and authorized contracts, consulted on legal issues, and liaised with regulatory agencies.

Complementing his work with healthcare institutions, Jackie Caynon III helped establish The Leo and Anne Albert Institute for Bladder Cancer Care and Research, Inc., a nonprofit in Farmington, Connecticut.
