James Calder

Background
I was born in London in 1966 and have lived in the Washington DC area since 1987. I've been a keen photographer for as long as I can remember.

I am currently a photo editor and pool photographer at DCist as well as being an organizer of the annual DCist Exposed Photography Show. I am the official photographer of DC Rollergirls roller derby

From 2007 to 2009 I was the official club photographer for now defunct professional soccer outfit, Crystal Palace Baltimore

Collections
My photographs hang in dozens of private collections as well as in one public collection: four of my photographs were purchased by the DC Government's Art Bank for their permanent collection. Those photographs are currently on display as part of the District of Columbia's City Hall Art Collection.

Publications
My images have been published on various news websites, including CNN*, DCist.com, Examiner.com, TBD, nowpublic, the Loudon Connection, Crystal Palace Football Club and the New Colonist, and in physical publications including the Washington Post, Washington Post Express, Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Life Magazine. They were also used during a news broadcast by WTTG, Fox Channel 5 in DC.
