James Klinect

TX resident James Klinect stands out as a key contributor to Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) processes in the aviation industry. He has led since 2001 as founding CEO of the LOSA Collaborative, a private organization based in Austin, TX, that has overseen in excess of 20,000 thorough and expert-reviewed observations at more than 70 airlines worldwide. Also the coauthor of the industry-recognized LOSA source material, James Klinect has gone on to write several widely cited publications on the LOSA program.
James Klinect holds a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, through which he collaborated with his mentor Robert Helmreich, PhD, on the development of TEM and LOSA. He led as chief research developer on this project for a total of eight years following the first LOSA proceedings, which took place at Continental Airlines in 1996. In recognition of these and other contributions to safety in aviation, James Klinect and LOSA received the 2011 Cumberbatch Trophy from the Honorable Company of Air Pilots.
