An experienced Chicago senior administrator, James McDonough holds a bachelor of science in business administration from John Carroll University in the eastern Cleveland suburb of University Heights. After graduating in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Korea. Headquartered with the 8th Army regimen in Seoul, Korea, James McDonough coordinated highway, rail, air, and water troop movements as an area transportation officer.

Returning stateside, Mr. McDonough served in a series of positions with the City of Chicago’s Department of Streets and Sanitation, joining the organization as a Skyway Toll Bridge Supervisor and leaving it in 1974 as its appointed Commissioner. He subsequently accepted the Chairman position with the Chicago Transit Authority, where he oversaw both a public transportation agency and a private enterprise. At the same time, he began heading his own engineering and architectural consulting firm, serving as President for 33 years and an additional 6 years as Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
