About this blog and a little about me:

The Icon of the Resurrection, which sits each Sunday by the baptistery of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Stamford where I serve, reminds us that Jesus reaches down to us in our self-made dungeons, breaks our chains and shackles and lifts us with resurrection might into new life.

As a priest and pastor serving parish churches for many years I often get called on to lead Bible study or lead prayer and, of course, to preach. When a theological concern or a question of biblical interpretation comes up people tend to turn to me for the definitive answer. While I do have definite opinions and love to talk about the historical background of scripture passages, I don’t want to be the answer man. What I truly love in a small group interaction is the ability to share different perspectives and listen to one another’s faith journey.

The purpose of this blog-site is to open up discussion and faith sharing in a wider community setting. Each of us has stories to tell how God has acted in our lives, where we’ve encountered something or someone greater than ourselves. My goal for this blog is to be a community forum for faith sharing. Every couple weeks I will pose a new question, share some of my reflections in a post and ask you to share yours. The site is open to anyone. I especially welcome your posts and comments. My only request is that you practice love of neighbor and be positive. Negative or derogatory posts will be deleted and future access to this site denied to any who abuse it.

So, a little about me: Some of my favorite activities involve being alone in nature. I take long runs with my dog, stand out in streams throwing flies at mostly uninterested fish, wander the fringes of golf courses chasing my errant shots and generally indulge my introverted self with such quiet pastimes. I have a passion for religious art, particularly Eastern Orthodox icons. I also enjoy companionship with friends, family and parishioners. You can find me most days at St. John’s Episcopal Church, a downtown parish in the heart of Stamford, Connecticut, where I serve as Rector.
