James Raphalian

Regarded as an authority in financial circles, James Raphalian most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Sales at Schwab Capital Markets, L.P., in New York City. Throughout his 30-year career, he has made significant contributions to the profitability and performance of some of the nation’s leading investment institutions. James Raphalian also has shared his considerable expertise as a commentator on radio programs and the news channels CNN, Bloomberg, and CNBC. During his tenure with Schwab Capital Markets, James Raphalian directed sales and research operations, which included trading. He also oversaw services to institutional investors. Under his leadership, the investment firm quadrupled its returns. Before joining Schwab, James Raphalian achieved similar gains while with SG Cowen Securities Corporation. As head of the departments that conducted NASDAQ trades, he generated a five-fold increase in revenues. Earlier in his career, James Raphalian built a track record in sales and trading at UBS PaineWebber, Prudential Securities, and Credit Suisse First Boston. Now retired, James Raphalian dedicates his time to charitable causes. He sits on the dinner committee of The Arc of Essex County. Since 1947, this nonprofit has offered a range of programs to those with developmental disabilities. Likewise, he takes an active role with the Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Research Education & Support (CARES) Foundation, supplying the organization with financial advice and orchestrating fundraisers. During a single CARES event held in 2006, he succeeded in raising more than $100,000 for the charity and for congenital adrenal hyperplasia research. The same year, he worked on behalf of another nonprofit, the Saint Jude committee.
