Jan Ahrend

Jan Ahrend (24, Oxford, UK) has been conducting scientific research since he was 11 years old. While in high-school he won the state title in Europe’s biggest science competition and was given two environmental protection awards. He taught himself programming at age 13 and later became a Gameforge Scholar while studying Computer Science in Heidelberg (Germany), Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Birmingham (UK) and taking online courses from Stanford University.
Jan is passionate about Human-Computer Interaction, Cyber Security and Entrepreneurship. He participated in three startup weekends and developed prototypes for various projects. In the past he worked as a developer for a startup in Silicon Valley, a business incubator in Munich and co-founded a German web service that improves how dance studios advertise and sell their products.
Jan is currently reading for his Doctorate at the University of Oxford's Computer Science Department on 'Human Factors in Decision Making within Cyber Security' and is the Head of IT at Oxford Entrepreneurs - the largest student society promoting entrepreneurship in the world.
