Janel P. Phillip

Psychologist in Trinidad and Tobago

Ms. Janel P. Phillip is the Human Resources Officer responsible for Employee Training and Organizational Development at the Power Generation Company of Trinidad and Tobago (PowerGen). She has been a Learning and OD practitioner for eleven years and a trainer for 15 years. She serves as an Executive Board Member of the Human Resource Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) as the Public Relations Officer. Janel is the facilitator of the Recruitment & Selection and Training & Development Toolkit modules offered by HRMATT to the public and to its members. She is also the current Vice Chairman of the El Dorado West Secondary Alumni Association. In 2008 and 2009 she served as the Chairman and Co-Chair of two committees on a Cabinet appointed task force to review the implementation of Vocational Education and Training in Secondary Schools. In 2009 she also served on a 10 member Ministerial Committee appointed by the Minister of Education to ensure the implementation of the Caricom Vocational Qualification (CVQ) at the secondary and tertiary levels in Trinidad and Tobago. She is an industry Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Competency Training, Management and Assessment; Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), Technical Vocational Education, Computer Based Learning and Neuro Linguistic Programming. Both the British psychological Association (BPA) and the Institute of Psychological Assessment Technicians (IPAT) of Chicago IL certified her as a psychometric evaluator and a Talent Consultant in 2005. She graduated from UWI with an Upper Second Class Honors in Sociology and Psychology in 1998. She is now completing her Masters degree in Human Resource Development with an emphasis on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Organizational Culture from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. She is also pursuing an advanced diploma in Life Coaching from the University of Stonebridge, UK. In April 2010 Janel was recipient of the Leadership Management International’s (LMI) “2009 Client of the year” based on her development and leadership shown in managing PowerGen’s Leadership Development Programme. Ms. Phillip is the recipient of PowerGen’s “Power Performer Award” – Employee of the Year 2007/8. She received this award on June 7th 2008. She worships at the Daybreak Assembly Morvant where she can be found singing solo in the Senior Choir or as a worship leader. She is also the proud mother of a multi-talented 16 year old!
