I am a 25-year-old athlete competing in numerous obstacle races, as well as road races. I graduated from UNCC with a double major in communications and psychology. During my time at UNCC I also competed as a Division 1 runner in Cross-country running (fall), indoor track (winter) and outdoor track (spring). During that time, I suffered numerous injuries, but persevered and ran all four years.

My worst injury occurred one month into my freshman year when I was pushed far beyond my limits. After suffering a herniated disc and bulging disc in my lower back I was told by many I would never be able to run again let alone compete. Through prayer, hard seemingly endless rehab work, and dedication I beat the odds and avoided surgery.

I suffered further injuries and endured a good deal of stress during my college career, but I have finally rekindled my competitive spirit and I have fully recovered.. I have found great success and joy in competing and inspiring others to work hard and push through any obstacles that they might encounter.

After finishing fifth at the DC Spartan sprint in the elite heat, I realized that this was a sport I could really excel at. I do better in the longer Spartan races so to qualify for worlds in the sprint and finish as a fifth elite woman was fantastic. Since that sprint I “climbed the podium” over the next three races, finishing as the third, second, and finally first elite woman.. I expect to continue to be at the top of the elite heats in 2016 and intend to be competitive in 2016 with the best athletes in OCR.
