Jasmine Singleton

Jasmine Singleton is a Licensed Social Worker from Louisiana who currently works as a clinician for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically serving Veterans in the Healthcare for Homeless Veterans Program under the Alexandria VA Health Care System's catchment area. She has several years of experience working with marginalized populations as a psychotherapist, ranging from working with individuals with substance abuse disorders and/or co-occurring disorders; adjudicated youths; adults and seniors with mental health diagnoses requiring acute psychiatric hospitalization, and families residing in low-income, public housing.

Ms. Singleton attended undergraduate school at The University of Louisiana-Monroe where she received dual degrees, obtaining her Bachelor of Social Work degree and Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Immediately after, she enrolled in graduate school at Grambling State University, obtaining her Master of Social Work degree through GSU's Advanced Placement Program. Not only does her personal academic achievements reflect the value she places on education, but she advocated to address the disparities of educational opportunities for children living at or below the poverty line. Jasmine was a key person in helping to establish the Literacy Plus Program, a collaborative project between Monroe Housing Authority, Monroe City Schools, and The Children's Coalition. She worked alongside community agencies and city officials to develop this program to help bridge the social gap of educational opportunities and access to community resources available to families with children residing in low-income, public housing communities.

She has proven to be a skilled group therapy facilitator, receiving credentialing as a Nurturing Family Facilitator and Thinking For A Change Facilitator--evidenced-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques that have been proven to be effective. She is also the developer of Greater Heights, LLC, a social services consulting agency that offers individual, couple, or marital counseling sessions; anger/stress management sessions; parenting classes (voluntary and/or court-mandated classes); and brokerage of community resources.

The most important role that Jasmine feels she has is maintaining work-family life balance to have plenty of time to devote to her 4 children. The loves of her life.
