Jean-Michel Basquiat

Born in Brooklyn, America, Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist, musician, and producer, known for his neo-expressionism and primitivism and his collaboration with pop artist Andy Warhol. His work and style received critical acclaim for the invigorating fusion of words, symbols, stick figures, and animals that can’t be fathomed to the point they belabor. Basquiat’s art focused on “suggestive dichotomies” such as wealth versus poverty, integration versus segregation, and inner versus outer experience.
