Jeanette Melendez

A bubbly spitfire wit with a conservative flair personifies this Bronx bred mom of 3 beautiful children, ages 21,16,5. I'm comfortable in my skin, so I can be quirky without feeling foolish.. I’m a down to earth gal who embraces a positive attitude that is not only empowering but liberating. In 2009, I won the Grand prize in a Macy's Carlos Santana Karaoke contest. My 21 year old son was with me to cheer me on. The congratulatory crowd could not believe that we were mother and son. When my son was in H.S., parent teacher conferences always started off with the belief that I was his sister. It's always extremely flattering & I'd like to think that my young at heart attitude, along with a positive zest for life transcends from the inside out. I gave birth to my oldest son when I was 17 years old and my gorgeous son graduated as the 2008 Valedictorian of his high school. An old soul by nature; I nurtured, protected and loved him with wholehearted greatness –never mind my age. I could've easily joined the hoards of underage woman who selfishly forfeit their responsibilities by having their mothers take on the involuntary task of becoming the primary parent, but I knew better. I couldn’t fathom the idea of not earning that internal and profound gratefulness that came with raising my child. I would exhaustively aspire to be the primary model of motherly greatness in my children's eyes. Family dinner's, heartfelt hugs & discussion's about everything under the sun, are the norm in our home. Commanding on the heels of sense & sensibility is a quality that I've utilized to my advantage. I used to work in the "belly of the beast" as a N.Y.C Token Booth Clerk. Confined within a bullet resistant fish bowl required a smile & patience with a dash of bad ass! Looking back, I proudly paved a scenic route throughout the road less traveled by towering over the odds & obstacles that challenged me along the way.
