Jen Nguyen

California

The name's Nguyen. Jen Nguyen.

I'm a recent college graduate with an immense drive to make a difference in this world. Although this goal is simply lofty, I am determined to accomplish this as much as possible, through my contributions to the community in both micro- and macroscopic levels. My educational background in psychology and human development has taught me so much about human behavior, decision-making capabilities, and problem-solving skills; this knowledge has been highly beneficial in all of my professional and volunteer experiences.

Right now, I coordinate a baby tooth study of 500+ participants to investigate causes of autism, for the CHARGE study (Childhood Autism Risks from Genetics and the Environment) at the UC Davis MIND Institute. Researchers may extract information about early environmental exposures from baby teeth, because babies lay out dentin in utero. I also provide patient care for our study participants, who often have a neurodevelopmental delay.

Additionally, I dabble in photography. I created the visibility project Humans of Davis - inspired by Humans of New York - to display the true diversity in my college town. I'm always open to collaborations, such as with UC Davis' Cross Cultural Center and Council for International Development. My work has been featured in numerous sites, including USA Today, Discover Magazine, and Business Insider. If you have a local cause or non-profit organization in need of volunteer photography services, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Professional and recreational stuff aside, my aspirations, dedication, and determination are essential to my character.

Enough about me: let's connect, collaborate, and make something useful for the world!
