Jennifer Herrera is a Latin American Chef, television personality, food writer, stylist, instructor & consultant. She is in process of completing a collaborative degree program exploring all facets of the food service industry, earning two world-class degrees pursuing Culinary arts at The Culinary Institute of America & Hospitality Business Management at the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. Her culinary journey began as a child in the Bronx, watching her Puerto Rican American mother test numerous recipes from her collection of cookbooks from cuisines of all over the world. Jennifer was also inspired by her favorite childhood cooking personalities like Martha Stewart, Julia Child, Chef Paul Prudhomme & Latin Chef Pepín. At the start of her culinary career, Jennifer was introduced to her first Culinary Mentor Chef Aaron Sanchez. Under the wing of Chef Sanchez, Jennifer's life changed as the windows of her world expanded and she learn the art of contemporary Latin American cuisine, a cuisine and an art form that really hit home. From there Jennifer Fell in love with all aspects of the kitchen. Her journey took her through apprenticeships in a number of NYC restaurants,working under celebrated Zarela Martinez, Jonathan Waxman, Johnny Iuzzini, Iacapo Falai and Drew Nieporent to name a few. Jennifer then pursued her education at the International Culinary Center where she attained a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. After working at many notable NYC restaurants including Zarela, Barbuto, Jean Georges, Tribeca Grill... Jennifer took her restaurant experience & decided to work for herself as a Private Chef to a several NYC and MIA socialite families. At the age of 25, Jennifer then joined forces with Chef Jhonathan Rupchand to create "Truffle and Basil" Private Chef group LLC. A boutique Tri-state base personal chef service. As well as "The Blue Burner" a Hell's Kitchen base Culinary Cookery. And "Cupcakes Modern" a virtual cupcake Shoppe. When Jennifer is not cooking, dining out or networking at the hottest Industry events, she enjoys spending quality time catching up with her family, friends & traveling. She loves to practice her Buddhist faith, Kundalini yoga and experimenting with healthier alternatives to Latin American food.
