Jeremy Cline, PTech
Saint John, New Brunswick
I grew up on the water in a small fishing town on a remote Island nestled between New Brunswick and the Maine border. My teenage years consisted of helping my father with our Whale Watching company, Cline Marine, and running the company Boat, the 60' M.V. Cathy and Trevor. The fun part was the fact that my father had also volunteered the vessel as a Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary platform which added to my Marine Navigation and safety experience.
During my young adult years running Aquaculture vessels along the coast in all manor of weather conditions I took NBCC's Limited Masters Marine navigation course (through night time courses) while working on a salmon site.
In 2004 I set my course for a more stable career in Industry by taking NBCC's Mechanical Engineering Technology program. Graduating in 2006, I became a certified Professional Technologist two years later while working for the Federal Government's Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and have been in the energy sector ever since.
In 2011 I partnered up with two other outdoor types to form OutdoorsNB Inc filling what was, at the time, a gap in quality kayaking supplies in Saint John. We wanted to legitimize our place in the kayaking industry so we selected a Paddle Canada course provider and I have been climbing the Paddle Canada system ever since with Level 1 and 2 skills, intro instructor and Level 1 instructor certifications.
My absolute passion is safe kayaking and increasing public awareness of kayak safety and the dangers of cold water.
To this end, in 2013 I volunteered as Safety and Cold Water preparedness chairman with the Fundy Paddlers Club in Saint John. I have subsequently become the VP of Kayaking for that NFP organization and have also become the safety chairman for Canoe and Kayak NB.
I will never stop increasing my understanding and awareness of Sea Kayaking and the Bay of Fundy and I will always be open to sharing what I have learned thus far! You can check out a culmination of what I've come to know here:

The day we stop learning is the day we are to consumed with ourselves.
